ANGELA MAGNOTTI ANDREWS
I am passionately in love with Jesus, His Word, and His people. When I was a teenager, I suffered from insomnia and anxiety. In the wee hours of the morning, when I couldn’t sleep, I would pore through the Bible for comfort, answers, and inspiration. I copied down passages in my journal and wrote questions, thoughts, or insights about what I read. This went on for years, and as I grew more acquainted with Bible study methods, I added tools and resources to my toolbox.
When I was fourteen, I was baptized in the Holy Spirit. Since then God’s Spirit has been a constant companion, source of comfort, and guide to the Scriptures. What has emerged from my personal habits and my connection with Holy Spirit is my own unique style of interacting with God’s Word. It is my pleasure and privilege to share not only my style and inspiration, but also my favorite resources and methods with you.
My greatest inspirations in the Christian writing world are Kay Arthur, Beth Moore, and Francine Rivers. I have combined all of their approaches into my own study and Brightness of Your Dawn is what has emerged.
Kay Arthur created the inductive Bible study method, in which the larger pictures presented in the Bible answer questions about the details. As a writer, researcher, and journalist, I love answering the Who, What, Why, When, and Where questions. Her style was a natural fit. Ms. Arthur’s passion empowering others to delve into the depths of God’s Word and find truth for themselves have been a great source of inspiration for me.
Beth Moore shares a similar passion for God’s Word and inductive Bible study. Her unique approach has introduced another layer of depth to my study. Her affectionate love for Jesus Himself brought a revelation of joy to understanding the One whom the Scriptures reveal. Ms. Moore draws deeply upon her own life experience and shares countless personal stories which offer practical application of what she has learned from her study of the Word. Her singular focus on Jesus and His love for His Body, combined with her unique and creative voice in the realm of Bible study, has left an indelible impression upon my soul, carving out a special place in my heart for her.
Francine Rivers is, hands down, my favorite Christian fiction author. Her love for history and the Word of God commingle with her creative mind and skillful pen. Every one of her books is a delectable feast for my soul. Her stories live on in my mind even years after I’ve read them. The Mark of the Lion series transformed my view of the lost and the broken and demonstrated the power that one person wields in the lives of those around her, while Redeeming Love forever changed my view of myself in light of the love of Christ.
In keeping with the legacy of these fine women, I aim to merge my passion for the Word of God with creative writing to deliver a fresh approach to the study of God’s Word. I hope to inspire personal enlightenment, creative expression, and ultimately a renaissance in the realm of the arts as they relate to the timeless message of God’s Word.
The Bible holds a wealth of great beauty, mystery, and insights into the human story. I believe the highest form of expression comes through worship and the arts, especially when the two come together. It is my hope that you will be inspired to plumb the depths of Scripture with renewed excitement and find the treasure hidden just beneath the surface of the narrative.
